Choosing the Best Juicer Machine

Once you’ve committed to start juicing the first step is choosing the best juicer machine.  There are many many juicers to choose from, but there are essentially only 3 types of juicers you need to know;  the masticating,

Juice extractor and carrotcentrifugal and triturating.

Masticating Juicers:

The first type of juicer is called a masticating juicer.  It works by slowly grinding the fruit or vegetable with a single gear.  The masticating juicer is slow compared to the centrifugal juicers, but very efficient and produces more juice.  It is much quieter and doesn’t cause the juice to heat up as much as a centrifugal juicer retaining more enzymes and  antioxidants.  This juicer is typically more expensive than other juicers and usually comes with a longer warranty.  Some of the most popular brands include Omega, Champion and Super Angel.

Centrifugal Juicers:

Centrifugal juicers work by grinding the fruit or vegetable through a blade that is spinning very fast and looks like a cheese grater, the juice is removed and the remaining pulp moves over the edge of the spinning basket and into the pulp collector.  These juicers have very high speed motors that spin between 3,000 and 20,000 RPM.  Because of the powerful motors they tend to be noisy, some people equate it to a jet taking off.  The centrifugal juicer also produces a lot of heat that heats up the juice and can destroy enzymes and antioxidants.  If you are planning to juice greens, the centrifugal juicer in not the best choice.  However these juicers are less expensive than the masticating or triturating juicers.  Some of the popular juicing models include Breville and Hamilton Beach.

Triturating Juicers:

Triturating juicers are probably the best juicers made.  They consist of two gears that are very close together and squeeze every last drop of liquid from the fruit or vegetable.  These juicers produce the most juice compared to either the centrifugal juicer or masticating juicer, it is also the most expensive with prices starting around $500 and extending to well over $1000.  Popular models of triturating juicers include Super Angel, and Green Star.

If you are deciding on the best juicer machine for your needs, first look at what you will be juicing and how much time you are willing to invest.  If you want your juice quickly, then a centrifugal juicer is a good option.  If you are concerned about getting the most enzymes, vitamins and antioxidants in your juice or are planning to juice a lot of greens, then a masticating or triturating juicer will be best.  Whatever you decide, you are already on your way to a healthier lifestyle.

Healthy Eating and Exercise

For the last few years, I’ve been concentrating on being really healthy, that means eating more healthy foods, watching how much I eat, doing strenuous exercise, being active, learning so I can keep my mind sharp.  More specifically, I’ve found I enjoy juicing, kettlebell and boot camp workouts, reading continuously, starting a couple of new hobbies and my favorite after all these is rest and taking care of my body.
